Part 1 — Terms of Use
1. Who we are
Snatchback (snatchback.co.uk) is an independent, free tool created and run by Mark ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the site you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
2. What Snatchback is — and isn't
Snatchback is a free organising tool. It stores information you choose to give it and, if you raise an alert, texts your chosen contacts and shows you a checklist and useful numbers.
Snatchback is not an emergency service, the police, a bank, an insurer, or your mobile network. It cannot remotely lock, wipe, track or recover your phone, and it cannot freeze bank accounts — only your bank, network, and Apple/Google can do those things.
In an emergency where anyone is in danger, call 999.
Never chase, confront or try to track down a thief yourself. Phone snatchers on mopeds and e-bikes are fast, dangerous and may carry weapons. Leave recovery to the police.
3. Free service, no guarantees
The service is provided free, "as is" and "as available". We don't promise it will always be online, error-free, or that texts will be delivered on time or at all — delivery depends on third-party SMS providers and mobile networks. Any phone locations shown in the app are simulated, not real tracking.
We don't guarantee any outcome, including getting your phone back, stopping fraud, or an insurance claim being accepted. Always follow your own bank's, network's and insurer's instructions.
4. Your responsibilities
- You are 16 or over and the information you give is accurate and yours to share.
- You have permission from every emergency contact to give us their name and phone number and for us to text them if you raise an alert.
- You keep your password and emergency PIN private. Anyone with your phone number and PIN can raise an alert as you.
- When you use Snatchback on a borrowed or public phone, you sign out or close the browser tab when you're done so others can't see your details.
- You only raise real alerts. No false alarms, harassment, spam, or attempts to abuse, overload or break into the service.
We may limit, suspend or delete accounts that break these rules. Alerts are limited to one contact text-out per hour per account.
5. Limits on our liability
Because the service is free, to the fullest extent the law allows we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from using, or being unable to use, Snatchback — including lost or stolen devices, money taken from accounts, data loss, missed or late texts, or rejected insurance claims.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud. Your statutory rights are not affected.
6. Changes and ending
We may change or stop the service, or update these terms. If we make important changes we'll update the date above. You can stop using Snatchback and delete your data at any time.
7. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you may also bring claims in your local courts.
Part 2 — Privacy Notice
8. What we store
- Account: your name, email, phone number and a scrambled (hashed) version of your PIN — we never store the PIN itself.
- Vault: the device details you add (make, model, IMEI, serial, network) and your emergency contacts' names and numbers.
- Incidents: when you raise an alert, its time, any location you type, the steps you tick off, and a log of texts sent.
- Security: failed PIN attempts, so we can lock out guessers.
9. Why we use it
Only to run Snatchback: to let you sign in, raise alerts, text your contacts, show your details when you need them, build your police/insurance evidence pack, and keep the service safe from abuse. We rely on your agreement and our legitimate interest in providing the service you asked for.
We never sell your data, and never use it for advertising.
10. Who else sees it
- Your emergency contacts receive your name and a help link when you raise an alert. Anyone with that link can see that incident's checklist and evidence pack until you switch sharing off.
- Service providers who host the site and send texts on our behalf, only as needed to run it.
- Police or others only if the law requires it, or if you share your evidence pack yourself.
10a. Cookies & storage
We don't use tracking, marketing or advertising cookies. We only use the essential browser storage needed to keep you signed in securely, so there's no cookie banner.
11. Your rights
You can see, correct or delete your information in your Vault, or ask us to delete your account and everything with it. Under UK data protection law you can also ask for a copy of your data, object to how it's used, or complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Emergency contacts who no longer want texts can reply STOP.
12. Contact
